A brilliant performance in January earned Mustapha Babadidi a place amongst Nigeria's best league stars.

His performance didn't go unnoticed as the jury at the Naija Premier League Awards (NPLA) voted him as the Best Player in January.

"I'm excited as the inaugural winner this season," he told nplawards.blogspot.com

The forward has improved from his performance last term. From five goals in 2010/2011, the youngster has moved to six goals in six matches this term.

No thanks to Adamu Mohammed, who was exceptional last season, Babadidi had a quiet season. However, the transfer of Mohammed to champions, Dolphins, gave him more playing time this season.

He has since maximized the opportunity to become a super-regular and is confident of making an impact this term.

"I can score more goals now that there's the chance to play regularly. I want to make a name in the NPL," he said to nplawards.blogspot.com.

Babadidi has since formed a partnership that works with teammate, Sanusi Sani, who is the league's top scorer with six goals.

Both players have scored 11 goals this term for table-topping Gombe United.
