ABS hit by the LBA bug

Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC has celebrated its nomination as one of the best four teams in the just concluded 2011/2012 season by the League Bloggers Award (LBA)
The dynamic club is not new to the LBA honours list as head coach, Kabir Sulaimon Dogo, was named LBA Manager of the Month, in March. The club was nominated alongside league champions Kano Pillars, Lobi Stars and Rangers international FC of Enugu as the best teams by LBA. The League Bloggers Award will be competed for in ten categories by clubs, players and coaches in the 2011/2012 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season. The ten categories to be competed for are Rookie of the Year, Best Goalkeeper, Best Foreigner, Club of the Year, Best Designed Club Jersey, Highest Goal Scorer Award, Manager of the Year (NPL), Manager of the Year (Africa), Best National Team Player and Player of The Year. Head of the LBA, Ojeikere Aikhoje, revealed that the panel for the award had to include the Best Goalkeeper as a way to support the men between the sticks. Two of the club’s players were also nominated for Rookie of the Year award. They are Andrew Abalogu who scored nine goals for the club in the season under review, and Bright Esieme, a right full bacl with the only privately ownwd club in the Premier League. Team Manager Alloy Chukwuemeka said that the recognition will spur the club to put in more effort next season, and also compete for honours
